New Balance Women's W1080v4 Running Shoe
CUSTOMER REVIEW
Let me start by saying that I am NOT a runner, so this review most likely won't help those that are. For all I know what I am finding to be a problem is not one for the serious athlete or things that I don’t find to be problems may be a HUGE ones for the serious athlete.
This shoe is quite comfortable. They are extremely light (the lightest athletic shoe I’ve ever tried) and very flexible. It feels a bit snug on my foot and I think I should have gotten the size 8 instead of the 7.5. I've been a Reebok fan for ages ever since I was able to be more athletic than I can be now, so this is my first foray into the New Balance market.
This shoe forces my foot to tilt forward a bit and I am a bit uncomfortable with the pressure it is putting on my slightly longer big toes. Even with my nails cut short, I feel the pressure on top of my big toes, pressing on my nail. The shoe fits me very well except for that and one other issue that may not pertain to you. I have calluses or corns on the ball of my foot and having my body weight pushed slightly forward is making them uncomfortable.
Had there been slightly more room in the toe box instead of them being so narrow, would have really helped me.
I have been using them for errands, walking, speed walking and light exercise. The soles give good traction and I have used them in the dew soaked grass as well as the sticky concrete/stone of the mall.
There is adequate cushioning but not an over-abundance of it.
They do stretch out as the day progresses so what starts out as very snug and a bit uncomfortable can end up feeling just about right later in the day.
The colors are bright, but when they say Purple and Silver, they really mean purple-ish near the heel blending into a grayish silver at the toes. There is plenty of reflective material around the shoe and the vibrant yellow and coral really makes an unusual statement.
Believe me, nobody is going to miss you if you are wearing these while at the side of the road!
