I had to give up my beloved Converse sneakers due to a foot condition, and the Freewheel is the closest I could find in the way of a retro look with better support. These are indeed very comfortable--compared to my Converse, they feel like slippers. The sole is cushioned nicely and there's some arch support as well. Just an overall great shoe for everyday walking around. My foot is slightly narrow, but I still wear a medium. These are a bit wide, so I'll be wearing heavier socks. The only obvious flaw is how SHORT they run. Seriously, I recommend getting a full size longer. I normally wear a 7M in sandals, and 7.5M in clogs or boots (anything I wear a sock with), but I had to return the 7.5M in this for an 8M. Amazingly, there still isn't a lot of wiggle room in toe, but enough to be comfortable. I got the brown color, and it's nicer than pictured--the laces are sort of a taupe color, and the rubber areas are a muted cream white rather than a bright white. Just ordered another pair in black!

I've always wondered why people buy pricey athletic shoes. From outward appearances they look deceptively similar. After I bought these I understand why. Not a runner, I bought these because I have nerve damage to my feet, & they were available in a wide width. I also spend a lot of time on concrete floors(school). By the end of any work day I'm in misery. Seriously, this shoe I don't want to take off even when I arrive home. Best investment I've made in a shoe. I may even start running! Oh, and did I mention that I've received so many compliments on these shoes?

These are FAKE! I have real TOMS which I purchased from the actual TOMS website and I compared a few things. First, the sizing was WAY off. I wear a 7.5 in real TOMS and could barely squeeze my feet into these. Second, there was visible glue hanging out between the canvas and soles of the shoes. Authentic TOMS would never have glue hanging out like that. Third, the stitching was wide, uneven and coming apart. Finally, if you look inside the shoe where your heel should lie, it says TOMS with a ™ sign following, real TOMS have TOMS and the ® sign following. These are clearly fake and Amazon has accepted my request to return. It baffles me as to how this seller is allowed to continue selling these fakes to thousands of people and Amazon is is doing nothing to stop it.

I ordered two pairs of Crocs - one pair of thongs and one pair of cayman crocs. I used the sizing chart provided and ordered both pairs in M5/W7. However, when they arrived, while the Thongs fit perfectly, with room to wiggle, the Caymans were way too small (I'd almost say a full size too small). The Thongs were "made in China" and the Caymans "made in Mexico". I went to my local store and discovered that they receive Croc orders which are often made in multiple countries. It would appear to me that there is no "standard" mold used. So beware - just because you have tried them on in a store and think you have the correct size - you may end up getting a larger or smaller size, depending on where they are manufactured.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

I bought this shoe for it's appearance, positive reviews and historical significance. Ontisuka shoes are famous. At first I was a bit skeptical. How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century? The answer is some things are designed properly from their inception and last the test of time. This shoe is an example of that. Just like a 66' Shelby Cobra or the metal prop rod used to hold up the hood of your automobile, this shoe remains a competitive idea even today. Apart from the fact these shoes squeak like crazy on wet floors and cause one to imagine they are in a scene from Police Academy where Micheal Winslow is simulating squeaking noises, these make a very good daily active shoe. The sole is very thin and I made sure to order about a half size smaller for optimum fit. I usually wear a 91/2m US but a 9m US in this shoe fits me like a glove... (or in this case a well fitting shoe). These shoes are not made for rain or wet conditions. Think of this shoe like a sports car, minimalist and purpose built. If your goal is heel and toe down-shifting in your sports car, look no further. These shoes offer great feel. They are stylish, well made and are pretty comfortable, but adding a Dr. Scholl's gel heel support makes them about perfect. So apart from the embarrassing wet floor squeaky aspect and lack of traction in the wet, these are a great performing shoe. Kinda pricey though. An Adidas Samba or Gazelle are about half the price and probably just as effective but not nearly as unique or aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. .

Wifey has been lusting for these 5050s for a while. I picked up a pair of the black suede ones she wanted as a Christmas gift, and she couldn't be happier. No, really! Apparently, they fit like a glove, are extremely comfortable, and look great. I've gotta agree... her legs go on forever in these, and that's perfectly fine with me. Happy wife, happy life. Ho Ho Ho!

First, the photo of these shoes is not accurate - they are much prettier. More like a rich, sapphire blue. Secondly, regarding sizing,the listing clearly says they run small and to order 1 size larger. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 US size, so I bought the 9 and they fit well, though a little snug in the toe, but my experience with fabric shoes is that they tend to stretch a little after wearing, which will make them perfect. The really are so very pretty and easy to wear, and the sale price is great. I'll buy more.

The fit is great. Just enough room to wear thick wool socks. I wore them today in sub zero weather. I got around fine in the ice and snow. The soles have good traction. Wearing these boots with thick wool socks did a pretty good job of keeping my feet warm. I am very happy with this purchase.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

I honestly LOVE theses shoes However I rated it one star b/c I know most people (myself included) only read the negative reviews.

I ordered this pair because I already owned a pair that I purchased locally so size was perfect. I LOVED them SO much that I decided to order another exact pair. I felt safe ordering online through Amazon.

I was shocked that the shoe was WAY TOO SMALL. The box and the shoe both read size 6 which is the same size of my existing pair. I immediately read the negative reviews and came across one who posted the exact same story...and mentioned that they noticed that the two boxes were from two different countries. The reviewer was not specific.

I drove myself to the local athletic shoe store and showed the manager my two pairs of shoes. (the one I purchased their and was a perfect fit and the one from Amazon) I pointed out that my two pairs came from two different countries. I asked the manager to bring out every size 6 they carried. I had 9 boxed brought out and I tried on ever pair.

The 9 boxes came from 3 different countries. China, Vietnam and Indonesia. ALL the shoes from China (including my 1st pair) were all a perfect fit. All the shoes from Vietnam and Indonesia (and my 2nd pair from Amazon) were at least a whole size too small.

Amazon was not able to accommodate my request for a REAL PERSON to cherry pick a pair marked from China, however they were willing to keep returning (at their expense) shoes until I received the correct pair.

I decided to order a whole size up, size 7, sure enough my 3rd pair came from Indonesia and was a fairly good fit. A tad bigger than my original pair, but I was satisfied.

Bottom line...

China=good fit

Indonesia=too small

Vietnam=too small

I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing these great shoes in person if at all possible.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

"Chucks" are the only shoes that have ever existed. Ever since 1923, Chuck Taylor All-Stars have been "just a piece of rubber and canvas"- they haven't changed one bit from the sands of time. These shoes are devilishly simple, and customizable in every way. Everyone may be wearing Chucks these days, but you can still make them your own. There are so many ways- what color would you like? One of the core colors- black and white? Monochrome black? White? Red? Green? Blue? Pink? How about the latest pattern or print? Every year Converse also pumps out new seasonal colors, and different styles such as double-tongued shoes, "tear-aways", faded looking ones, everything. You can buy different color laces or you can go crazy with a Sharpie and draw up some art all over your shoes. And for something seemingly so flimsy, they're pretty durable. My shoes have withstood countless running and hitting the asphalt, games of soccer, basketball, jumping from everywhere, the basic abuse a teen can dish out to his feet. Granted, they may not be too comfortable at first, but once your feet gets used to them, well, you don't even notice you're wearing them anymore. Nevertheless, it does have some setbacks, but if you look at modern shoes, you can see the differences in design. But for something from over 3/4 of a century ago, you've got to admit they're pretty darn impressive. The skinny:

PROS

-customizable in any way- laces can be easily replaced and be done up in any pattern you wish

-look great with anything and everything; the unisex casual sneaker that will even draw you the occasional compliment from coworkers or friends.

-lightweight compared to most shoes of today

-so many colors- from your basic core colors (black, red, green, blue, white, or pink) to different designs (60s tie dye, camo, skulls, flames, etc.)

-also different kinds of shoes- from the classics to the newer double uppers, tear-aways (shoes with two layers of canvas, and some parts are already torn away to show the brighter underlayer), double-tongued, and also DIFFERENT MATERIALS like leather or suede.

CONS

-the color fades; especially in the harsh sun. My navy blue Taylors have been bleached to the color of very faded blue denim.

-the rubber parts of the shoe can get dirty rather quickly, but are easily cleanable.

-overall the shoe is pretty comfortable, but not recommended for prolonged running or a whole day on the boardwalk. It depends a lot on the shape of your foot- if your feet are flat, you'll find that these shoes are a match made in heaven. Otherwise you may have some issues, but not so bad they're unwearable.

-I don't know what it is about it, but they make your feet look bigger than they really are.

-NOT TO BE USED AS A SKATE SHOE. Converse shoes are made from canvas, which won't give you any mercy from runaway boards, and they do NOT have adequate cushioning on the top, bottom, or sides for such an activity.

NOTE: BUY A HALF-SIZE SMALLER THAN WHAT YOU'RE AIMING FOR. A Converse size 10 is, in reality, a 10 1/2.

ANOTHER NOTE: If this bothers you, then you should know. Chucks are no longer manufactured in the USA. They are now outsourced to other countries, mostly China. Your Chucks won't be falling apart on you or anything, but know that Converse is now a subsidiary of Nike, a company known to use sweatshop labor to make their shoes.
